Yoshimi Itazu's directorial debut mid-lenght film Pigtails won the Best Animation Short Award at the May 2016 session of the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards (LAIFFA). The awards were announced on May 31, 2016.

LAIFFA is a monthly film festival which celebrates Short and Feature films from around the world with 50 awards in different categories in various genre.
