Giovanni's Island receives Jury Distinction at Annecy 2014

Mizuho Nishikubo's new animated feature film, Giovanni's Island was greeted with the Jury Distiction Award in the Official Competition of the 38th Annecy Animation Film Festival, held in Annecy, France from June 9 to 14, 2014. It is the first recognition for a Japanese feature film at Annecy since 2011.

The jury, composed by Brazilian director Luiz Bolognesi, Neckelodeon Animation Vice President Rich Magallanes and THR journalist Rhonda Richford motivated the recognition as follows: "for its story and the quality of the direction, with a treatment of the war through a positive and poetic message."

Established in 1960, the Annecy Animation Film Festival is the world's oldest and most prestigious animation film festival. This year, the festival received 2298 entries from 88 countries, of which 70 were feature films.
